Effective Priorities

Step 5 of Foresight 7s is to “Prioritize your projects.” As you do this, you have to look beyond the priorities in one area of your life (say work) and consider the others (say home).

Last week I took time out to help my 8 year old daughter and her friend do research for a Wind Energy Poster. I had to do this in the middle of my work day. I weighed my priorities and decided that the girls were a higher priority. I repeated this again today to help my daughter’s class with Read Across America. I, subconsciously, set priorities and rearranged my to do’s so I could spend time in her class reading Green Eggs and Ham to the students. I was also there for the judging of the Wind Energy Posters. These activities resulted in a feel good day – made possible by setting the right priorities.
