Hi Roy --

I have not, but been wondering about Windows 8 as I played with my daughter's new MacBook with OS X, Lion (or whatever it is called), and, wow! I have never been a Mac fan, but, I might start converting!

Thanks so much for your reply.

Thank you for Foresight!

Have you looked at Windows 8 videos? They make Win8 look great! And just up the alley of what you are talking about.

Hi Robert --

I personally run Foresight on a Windows 7 x64 box without issue. The trick or issue you may be having is if your Outlook is 64 Bit. If so, you are correct, it will not work as Foresight was only a 32 Bit add-on. (I installed / run the 32 Bit version of Outlook 2010 and, again, it runs great.)

Yes, I received great feedback to my surveys (thanks to everyone who responded!); with overwhelming commentary towards restarting this project - even from people who answered the "I'm not using Foresight" survey. I'm wrapping up a couple of other "big rocks" right now, then am planning to give it a 2nd go.

I honestly haven't pondered the Open Source route; something I may ponder - thanks for the idea.

Finally, as for other personal productivity software; I hope I don't come across as "smug," but I continue to use Foresight to this day as I really haven't found anything as good. I have looked at a couple of web based solutions like www.RememberTheMilk.com. But, with (a) living in Outlook and (b) really preferring a project based system with tasks and subtasks, I have immediately gravitated back to my product.

Thanks very much for commenting. I sure appreciate the interest in the blog and Foresight!

Hi RoyDean --

Thanks so much for commenting; I truly appreciate it!

To answer your question, I did indeed originally hire a development group to write Foresight. So, the debt I have are loans for the original development as well as marketing and advertising.

Regarding your ERP / SharePoint and dashboard view, you might want to check out the company I work for now, www.ImproveGroup.net. We help organizations with this kind of thing all the time.

Thanks again for commenting as well as trying Foresight!

I just discovered Foresight and it looks very interesting. However, I can't get it to install on Windows 7 x64. Have you made any decisions about resuming this project?

Have you considering making it open source if you can't make a profit on it as proprietary? That way others can assist in its development.

What other software do you recommend for personal productivity?

Jeffrey,

I read your Nov post about Foresight just now. See that comments are closed on that post. And seeing you might be resurrecting the product. What is the status, since it has not quite been a month since this post?

Waht kind of debt are you carrying?
Did you develop or pay a developer?

I am going to download and try it and will let you know my thoughts.

I have tried several products and none seem to be the perfect answer. Additionally, our ERP system vendor is in bed with Microsoft now and is beginning to integrate with SharePoint. I am trying to find the "perfect" solution that can tie everything together; sales data, mfg data, labor data, etc. in a dashboard view for the execs. Not sure how much luck I am going to have, but I need to move on something pretty quickly. Foresight might help with that, I don't know.

I trialed an iphone 3GS when my company was looking to make a standardized smartphone decision for its employees. I agree that the iphone is a great entertainment device, but the enterprise side was lacking. The Palm Pre gave us everything we needed and so much more. The exchange server integration is near perfect, all of our calenders, address books and emails are always synced. I love the physical keyboard, no typing mistakes here. Touchscreens are terrible for typing longer emails. The Pre does have some downsides, at least for me, though. I don't like the fully plastic body, it feels like a toy. Palm's app store is pathetic compared to Apple, which is where all the strength of a smartphone is derived. The lack of flash, is a neutral argument as both devices lack that, but hopefully the Pre is closer than Apple will ever be (sans jailbreak) I could go on and on. The Pre is the best smartphone I have ever owned.
