I just stumbbled across this blog and I’m really looking forward to reading more posts from it.

This article really needs to be a premiere chapter in the “Relaxed Productivity” instruction book:

The Art of Manliness: Napping

Jack's Candle Stick

I’ve been trying to renew my Microsoft Action Pack for days to get started on a project.

I’ve been patiently waiting for months for HP / Palm to announce their new Smartphones and TouchPad.  They did on February 9.  When will I be able to buy these?  “Planned availability this summer.”

This is frustrating and something these big companies need to look at and fix.  In today’s world, this is quickly becoming unacceptable – if it hasn’t already.

I can jump on Amazon, on the web or on my phone, and have something purchased in minutes.

I can fire up WordPress,  install some plug in’s and in a matter of a day or two – have a significant start on a project.

The maddening catch-22;  I need Microsoft and I need my Palm.  Office is a great product; products like Google Docs and OpenOffice do not compare.  My Palm Pre is an amazing business productivity tool and the new technologies will be even better.

So, if these two companies can re-think what the are doing and become “Jack,” they will hit a home run.  If not, they are just leaving the door wide open for someone else to jump over the candle stick.

Food for Thought: Are you and your organization “Jack?”

Foresight for Outlook

I am thinking of restarting development on my product, Foresight for Outlook.  To help with this decision, I have created two quick and easy surveys.  If you are using, or have tried Foresight in the past, would you take just a minute to fill out a survey and help me out?  I’d sure appreciate it.

If you are currently using Foresight, click here.

If you are not using Foresight, but tried it in the past, click here.

Thanks in advance.

PS: You can, of course, email me directly with comments, or leave them here if you like.

(Photo Credit: Me.  When I see my daughter ride and see the smile on her face; you can see her passion!)

While traveling this week, I had a “small world” experience and ran into a good friend whom I had not talked to in a few weeks.  I had just been thinking about him and it was a real boost to see him.  We got to chat about life, family, jobs, things we’d like to invent – it was really energizing for me.  One thing that our conversation centered on was being passionate about what you do in life.  It may seem like a “no duh” type thing, but it is so easy to get tied up in the day to day rat race and not take time out to think about this.

It really got me thinking.

Are you passionate about what you are doing?  Have you connected with someone recently who has given you a boost?  Critical things to think about as we kick off a new year.

Some random thoughts as 2010 comes to a close…

Letting Go

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking; wishing I had more time to sit and reflect on what I did this year and what I want to do next year.  I’m actually slightly stressed about the fact that it won’t happen.  So, funny; as I was trying to find a spot in OneNote to do some of thinking on this subject for five minutes, I ran across this thought I wrote down in 2009 that I planned to blog about someday:

Things are never finished, so, let them go.

I’m sure this stems from other posts I’ve written where I know, deep down, that I need to do this.  My favorite Bible verse affirms this:

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.”  Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)

Life Planning

If you do want to do some planning, and you are looking for a guide, Michael Hyatt has a great post and document that will help.

Make it a Great New Year

I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday, a great New Year’s and an amazing New Year!

A pretty cool thought I came up with today: You have to be at peace with yourself, and where you are today, to be successful tomorrow. (Posted via WordPress’s QuickPress.)

I got excited about using OneNote to keep notes in, and have it store such up on the web. I liked the idea of my notes automatically being backed up and available to me on my Palm Pre.

Well, as my kids would say – EPIC FAIL.

Foresight for Outlook

I continue to use Foresight every day to successfully keep multiple projects rolling forward and be an incredible asset to the company I work for.  I continue to also carry a lot of debt from the development of Foresight.  So, in thinking how valuable Foresight is to me, both as a productivity tool and as an asset, I’ve decided to put out a request for help.

  • Are you interested in owning and running a software company?
  • Do you have any ideas on how I might be able to sell Foresight?
  • Can you “spin through your Rolodex” and see if you know someone who might be interested in Foresight, or could help me sell it?

Last month, Foresight had over 80 downloads –with absolutely no marketing besides a website floating around on the Internet.  I * know * that if someone can put the effort and TLC into Foresight that it needs that it can be a real success for someone.

Thanks in advance for your help; I sure appreciate it.

I’ve had a severe case of writers block.  It has really affected this blog, my speeches and my work blog.  Being that we at work just went through a rebranding and are really trying to get the new identity (and basically mission) out to our internal team, I had to break the log jam and get my brain flowing.

How did I get it going?  I stopped and reflected on what really fires me up inside; what is my spark?  Once I got that feeling deep down in my gut, the ideas started flowing and I got a pretty darn good post out (if I do say so myself).

At the risk of starting a temporal loop, I even talked about the spark in my post.  And, that made me think that writing about such here as a good tip on helping find focus.  So, not only did I “kill two birds with one stone,” but it lets me continue something that I know, deep down in my gut, is something I need – and something I want to write more about to help people find there spark – and focus – in life.

Question: What are you doing to “spark” your focus in life?

Food for thought:

What is your long term focus?

What is your short term focus that will let you get there?
