Daily Check List

Keep Your Weekly "Stuff" on Track

Overview

We all have a lot of "stuff" we have to do every week. We have "stuff" for our personal lives. For example, maybe we want to have houseplants and want to remember to water them. We have "stuff" for our professional lives. Maybe we have two reports - one on Tuesday's and one on Friday's that we must make sure get created and on our boss's desk. Some things may be optional and some may not. Either way, it all needs to be corralled in a place that will tickle us to get it done, or at least reviewed.  The Daily Check List Widget will do just that.

Setup / Configuration

To configure Quick Capture, start at the Foresight Today window:

  • Click on the Configure Foresight link in the lower right-hand corner of the window.
  • Click on the Daily Check List Tab (shown above).

Add

To add a Daily Check List item that will appear on the Foresight Today widow, click on the day of the week (or one of the Everyday options) then click the Add button.

Delete

Allows you to delete a Daily Check List item.  Just click once on the item you want to delete, then click the Delete button.

Copy

Allows you to copy a Daily Check List item from one day to another.  Just click once on the item you want to copy, then click Copy.

Note: You can also hold down the [CTRL] key and drag & drop an item to another day to copy the item.

Drag and Drop to Re-arrange

You can drag & drop items to re-arrange them, as well as move them to other days.

Ignore Till Following Week If Not Complete

By default, Foresight will remind you at the beginning of the day about Daily Check List items you did not complete the previous day.  The "Ignore Till Following Week If not Complete" check box allows you to make a Daily Check List item more of an optional weekly task and not have Foresight remind you about that item if you do not complete it.

To make the item "optional," click once on the item and place a check in the "Ignore Till Following Week If not Complete" checkbox.

For example, say you have a Daily Check List item on Tuesday and Saturday called "Water Plants."  Some days you do it, and check it off.  Other days, it is not that critical, so you don't do it.  If you don't want to be reminded about it the next day (like in the picture below), highlight Water Plants and check the "Ignore Till Following Week If not Complete" check box.

Using

At the beginning of each day, Foresight will present a clean Daily Check List for you to use throughout the day.  If any items were incomplete from the previous day, Foresight will ask you if you want to leave them on the Daily Check List for today (unless that item is marked with the Ignore check box).

Leave

Clicking this button will leave this item on your Daily Check List for today.

Ignore

Clicking this button will not put this item on your Daily Check List for today.  It will appear the next day it is due to appear.

Always Ignore

Clicking this button is the same as selecting the "Ignore Till Following Week If not Complete" option (see above).  This will mark this Daily Check List Item so, in the future, you will not be reminded about it the next day if you do not complete it.  When something keeps popping up that you have decided is more of an "optional" item, you can quickly tell Foresight not to remind you about it again using this button.  If you ever do want to be reminded about this Daily Check List item, simply find it in the Configure window and un-check the item's "Ignore Till Following Week If not Complete" check box.
