Projects Whiteboard™

Prioritize Your Projects

Overview

Now that you have all of your projects in a system you trust, having a way to see the lay of the land and easily prioritize your projects is another step towards success and less stress.  The Projects Whiteboard is the place in Foresight to do this.

Setup / Configuration

The Projects Whiteboard requires no setup.

Using

The Projects Whiteboard gives you three toolbar buttons that allow you to:
  • Add a project.
    • Note: The Category drop-down box must be set to "All" in order for the Add toolbar button to be enabled.
  • Delete a project.
  • Open the Assign Tasks to Projects window.

In addition, the Projects Whiteboard gives you an overview of what you are working on.  It allows you to arrange your projects the way you want -- in an order that makes sense to you and works for the time present.  As things change, you can revisit this window and re-arrange as needed.

It consists of 6 columns of information, including:

  • Bullet (placeholder)
  • Project Name or Subject (the project's title or description)
  • Priority
  • Notes Icon
  • Due Date

Arrange Projects

To arrange your projects, simply drag and drop them by clicking and holding on the Project Name and dragging it up or down.

Notes

  • Completed projects cannot be moved.
  • Projects are displayed in the order you place them in, and want them in (see below).
  • Projects cannot be turned into, or contain, sub-projects.  To create a sub-project, simply modify the subject (name) of the project to reflect that it is a sub-project.  For example, your master project might be called "Software Marketing Project" and one of its sub-projects might be called "Software Marketing Project - Web Site Data Collection."

Helping With a Little Foresight

The Project Whiteboard only shows projects the way you have arranged them.  It does not sort projects in any other way.  However, it will assist you these ways:

Fix Project Due Date

If you drag & drop a project, and that project's due date is not equal to or later than the project above it, you will be presented with this window to help you think about and fix the due date, if you want to:

Project Priority

When you drag and drop a project, that project's priority will be changed to match the priority of the project right above it.
