Tasks to Projects
If you already use Tasks in Microsoft Outlook,
you can quickly get started with Foresight using these quick and
easy steps:
 |
Think about your tasks at hand and
categorize them (in your mind; on paper) into projects
by thinking up some quick and easy project names. |
 |
Create these projects in Foresight
either by using
Quick
Capture or the Projects Whiteboard /
Project
Window. |
| |
Just fill out the basic information -
Project Name, Identifier, and Due Date / Category if you
use, or want to use such. |
| |
(By the way, if you don't need Due
Dates, don't use them -- let the order or natural list
determine what you need to do next -- Foresight will
take care of this for you.) |
 |
Now, look at your Tasks in Outlook
just as you did before you installed Foresight.
Open up each task and use the Foresight Toolbar (at the
top of the Task Window, or, on the Add-Ins Tab / Ribbon
if you use Outlook 2007) to assign the task to one of the
projects you created.

Assign Tasks to Projects
You can easily assign many Outlook tasks
to a project in Foresight by using the Assign Tasks to
Projects window. This window is opened by clicking
the icon on the
Projects Whiteboard.

(Project Whiteboard with Assign Tasks to
Projects Icon)
Below is the Assign Tasks to Projects
window:

-
You can click on the
Task column header to sort by task name. This
can be very helpful if you currently put "task
category" or "task project" text before your tasks,
like in the "Plan holiday trip" examples above.
-
Select the task or tasks
you want to assign to a Foresight project by
clicking the check-box to the left of the task(s).
-
Once you have selected
the task(s), choose the project you want to assign
them to using the "Assign selected to project"
drop-down box shown at the bottom of the above
window.
-
In addition, you can use
this same window to move tasks from one project to
another:
-
Change the "Filter
tasks" drop-down box to "All."
-
Click on the Project
column header to sort by project name.
-
All tasks for all
projects will now be displayed.
-
Select the task or
tasks you want to assign to another project by
clicking the check-box to the left of the task(s).
-
Choose the new
project you want to move these tasks to using
the "Assign selected to project" drop-down.
|
 |
Now, you never need to look at that
overwhelming task list ever again! Just use the
Foresight Today
window and the Projects
Widget to guide you through getting the right things
done! |
Getting Started if You Have Not Used Tasks Before
Even if you do not use Tasks in Outlook, or if
you have not been a "To Do List" person in the past, it is easy
to get started with Foresight:
 |
Think about the tasks you have facing
you. What's in your head / on your mind.
What's on all those sticky-notes and pieces of paper all
over your desk! Categorize them (in your mind; on
paper) into projects by thinking up some quick and easy
project names. |
 |
Create these projects in Foresight
either by using
Quick
Capture or the Projects Whiteboard /
Project
Window. |
| |
Just fill out the basic information -
Project Name, Identifier and maybe Category. |
| |
Being that you are getting started,
don't overwhelm yourself with Due Dates yet. Just
start by getting things under control and
captured. Later, if things are indeed due by
certain dates, you can go back and easily add this
information. |
 |
Now, take each task you identified in
the first step above -- all those things on your mind or
on those notes, and start putting them into Foresight.
You can do this in the
Project Window, or, use
Quick
Capture. After you are done, throw away those
pieces of paper; get those things out of your mind;
reduce your stress. Don't you feel better already? |
 |
Now, you are ready to get going, be
organized, feel great, and get the right things done.
Just use the
Foresight Today window and the
Projects Widget to
guide you through getting the right things done! |
